Travel guide to NoMad, New York City

NoMad (short for North of Madison Square Park) is a historic district located near the center of Midtown. Once known as Manhattan’s Red Light District, it’s now a hip neighborhood with tons of luxury hotels, trendy bars, and excellent restaurants.

Tucked away from the chaos, but close enough to popular spots like Times Square, the Empire State Building, Broadway, and more, NoMad is the perfect little gem to add to your New York City bucket list!

How to get to the NoMad District

The NoMad neighborhood is bordered by East 30th Street to the north, East 25th Street to the south, Lexington Avenue to the east, and East 30th Street to the north, Sixth Avenue to the west.

It’s a short 17 minute drive from LaGuardia Airport, 30 minutes from both Newark and JFK airports, a 6-10 minute drive from Grand Central Station, a 6-20 minute walk from Penn Station, and just minutes away from nearby subway stations.

TIP: If you’re driving in on a weekend, look for commercial parking only signs. They’re considered a free-for-all on the weekends. Leave your car there and walk to all of your destinations.

New York is the type of place where location is everything! So when choosing your NYC accommodation, it’s best to create a list of things you want to see and do so you can narrow it down from there.

When it comes to the NoMad district, you won’t have to sacrifice anything on your itinerary because you can literally see it all from this centralized location! Whether you’ll be able to fit all of your must-sees and do’s into your trip schedule, now that’s another story. But no worries, NoMad is one of the best Manhattan neighborhoods to visit time and time again!
